Symptoms can vary from person to person but if 3 or more of the above symptoms persist beyond the above time frame, Post Concussion Syndrome is suspected.

Concussion mechanisms can also result in the cervical (neck) joint and muscle injury, vestibular (inner ear) disruption and physiological disturbances i.e. symptoms can increase with exertion causing difficulties with return-to-work, sport and even daily activities.

Our Physiotherapists who have advanced knowledge in manual therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, and post-concussion protocols can offer valuable assessment, treatment and education for managing post-concussion syndrome.

Your initial assessment will help determine if your post-concussion symptoms are cervicogenic (neck in origin), vestibular or physiological. Your treatment and symptom management will be individually planned based on the findings of the assessment.

Concussion treatments may include:

  • Education

  • Manual therapy to restore normal range of motion and reduce pain

  • Specific neck strengthening exercises

  • Vestibular retraining

  • Graded cardiovascular exercise

We will progress treatment to eliminate symptoms and allow you to meet your goals off returning to your work, sport and daily activities.
